Complexions Contemporary Ballet's Pre-Professional Program is a 4 week rigorous and intense TRAINING PROGRAM that provides hands on guidance and mentorship to dancers in preparation for a performing career in dance.
IN PERSON PROGRAM
The program is intended for students with an advanced or pre-professional understanding of classical ballet technique with 6+ years of training. Students will train in the official technique of Complexions - NIQUE. In addition to working on strength, stability, and overall placement, students will broaden their understanding of the relationship between the upper and lower body. Teachers will work closely with students to understand counter-balance and how to initiate the transfer of weight originating from the spine. This allows students to understand how to transition from one step to another allowing for a fuller range of movement. The goal is for our students to focus on versatility and range of dynamics - with a keen awareness of the fullness in physicality necessary to convey impactful dancing.
This immersive training experience, limited to 30 dancers, will focus on Technical Efficiency, Artistic Expression, and Performance. Students will take class in both Classical and Contemporary ballet techniques, learn repertory, and participate in a creative process that culminates in a live performance sharing the stage with Complexions Contemporary Ballet in its annual gala performance at The Joyce Theater in New York City. Classes will be taught by Desmond Richardson, Dwight Rhoden, current and former company members, and renowned guest faculty.
